SUMMARY:Chiharu Shiota- Art Gallery of South Australia
DESCRIPTION:Recognised the world over for her string installations\, Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota is the subject of three major projects at the Art Gallery from late August. This trilogy of offerings includes the first solo exhibition of Chiharu’s work in an Australian public gallery\, presenting works from the artist’s collection and from public and private collections in Germany\, Japan and Australia and including early performance work\, captured in photography and the moving image\, and a selection of her drawings. Also on view at the Gallery will be a major site-specific commission that embodies the space within the Melrose Wing and a new sculptural work made for the facade of the Gallery.  \nThe three major projects include:  \nAbsence embodied\n身体化したかたちの不在\nInstallation in the Melrose Wing of European Art\nFrom 24 August 2018  \nEmbodied\n身体化したかたち\nExhibition in Galleries 9\, 10 and 11\n24 August – 28 October 2018\n\nInternal\n体内\nArt Gallery Facade\n24 August – 21 October 2018 \n \nBoth the major solo show and new commission are made possible through the generous support of the Gwinnett family. DESCRIPTION:Revisit Port Adelaide’s rich maritime history and celebrate South Australia’s seafood industry like never before.\n\nIntroducing the Port Adelaide BOATFEST to be held on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 October 2018 from 10am to 4pm daily. This event will bring back wooden and heritage boats\, working shipwrights\, steam engines\, parades of sail on the inner harbour\, street markets\, family activities\, open days at the Museums in the Port\, art and artisans.\n\nThe event will incorporate Adelaide’s first South Australian Seafood Celebration in the Flour Shed at Hart’s Mill with a beautiful seafood dinner on Friday 12 October to officially open the event\, and an innovative ‘Loaves & Fishes’ dinner on Saturday 13 October.
